Arjuna's dilemma

Story

This story is from Mahabharata about two brothers named Pandu and Dhritarashtra. Dhritarashtra was older than Pandu, but he was born blind, so Pandu became the king. Pandu had five sons called the Pandavas, and Dhritarashtra had a hundred sons called the Kauravas.

Pandu had a poor health condition, and he died soon. After Pandu's death, Dhritarashtra became the king and took care of the Pandavas and the Kauravas. Yudhishthira, the eldest of the Pandavas, was supposed to be the king after Dhritarashtra. But Dhritarashtra's eldest son, Duryodhana, was jealous of Yudhishthira and wanted to be the king.

Duryodhana cleverly defeated Yudhishthira in a game of dice. According to the game's condition, Duryodhana became the king and sent the Pandavas and their wife Draupadi into exile.

After spending their time in exile, the Pandavas returned and demanded their share of the kingdom. But Duryodhana refused to give them any land.

The matter was resolved through a war between the Pandavas and the Kauravas on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. Lord Krishna became the charioteer for Arjuna, the third Pandava brother. He placed Arjuna's chariot between both armies.

Arjuna saw his own brothers, friends, and relatives standing in front of him, whom he had to fight. Seeing this, Arjuna became weak and told Krishna that he didn't want to fight against his own kin.

Arjuna was stepping back from his duty. Then Krishna explained to him that a warrior's duty is to fight against evil, even if the evil is standing in front of him in the form of his loved ones. 

Duty is greater than anything else, so we should always fulfil our duty.
