Story of Ram Setu
This story teaches us that with teamwork and dedication even the impossible can be achieved
Story
The science teacher of class 6 students got a sudden task of presenting a working model of the Human Respiratory System for the biology exhibition going to be held tomorrow. She picked 5 students, Samarth, Pragya, Aradhya, Raman, and Kirti to complete the task in 2 days. It was a huge task for the children; they were worried and didn’t know where to begin. They were sitting in the school park pondering about the project.
Suddenly, a cool breeze started blowing and kids friend Nachiketa appeared.
Nachiketa asked, "Why are you scared, my dear friends?" Pragya said, "Nachiketa, our class teacher has given us a very difficult task of making a working model and we have only two days to make it. We don’t know from where and how to begin the project?"
Nachiketa smiled and said, “Let me tell you a story from Ramayana about building Ram Setu (bridge) which is a great example of hard work, planning and teamwork to get a seemingly impossible task accomplished in no time.”
When Prabhu Shri Rama along with Laxman and Hanumanji had to cross the vast Indian Ocean to reach Lanka, the entire Vanar Sena was worried. They had no idea where and how to start. Moreover, they did not have much time to cross the vast ocean, as Ramji had to rescue Devi Sita from the captivity of Ravana. So, they had to figure out a way to reach Lanka fast.
It was then, under Ramaji’s guidance everyone thought with a calm and composed mind. The entire Vanar Sena, Sugreev, Hanumanji, Laxmana, Prabhu Rama, Nal, and Neel (two Vanars of the army with the special power of making the stones float on water), all worked as a team. With dedication, some members picked up the stones, some started writing “Jai Shri Ram” on the stones and others started placing the stones on the water. These were special stones and by the blessings of Shri Ram, they started floating on the water. According to the Ramayana, in just 5 days, they had built the entire bridge called the Rama Setu, which was 100 yojanas long.
Raman was quick to ask the question, "What is a yojana?" Nachiketa replied, “Yojana is a unit of measurement of distance used during the time of Ramji but now this unit is not used.”
Hearing this story, all five children were completely surprised and exclaimed “Wow, such a long bridge, Rama Setu was built in just 5 days”.
Nachiketa said, "No task is difficult and unachievable. What all is required is teamwork, dedication, right action, and a calm and composed mind." Within a fraction of a second, Nachiketa was nowhere to be seen around.
But now the kids were confident and positive. They knew what to do, where to begin, and how to make the working model of the Human Respiratory System. They gathered the materials required to build the model. The children divided the task among themselves based on the capability of each one. Once, they were through with their portion, they assembled the segments to complete the project. Their biology project was a super hit among the participants of the exhibition and all five children paid gratitude to Ramji and Nachiketa in their hearts.
Moral of the Story: With teamwork, dedication, and a calm mind even a very difficult task can accomplished.

It means that work gets accomplished through effort, not by dreams alone. Just as no deer will enter the mouth of a sleeping lion, similarly, success does not come to those who are idle or only dream without putting in effort.
