Lal Ded Lalleshwari
This story teaches us that God can only be attained by overcoming challenges.
Story
Lal Ded was born in the 14th century in a village in Kashmir. She was a devotee of Lord Shiva and wrote many poems in the Kashmiri language, which are called "Vakhs".
Her love for Shiv and spirituality made her leave behind worldly life and start a spiritual journey. Her journey was filled with many hardships and challenges, but she faced every difficulty with immense courage and strength.
Lal Ded became the disciple of Saint Shrikanth Maharaj at the age of twenty-six.
Lal Ded's poems taught people to go beyond religion and caste and focus on true devotion to God. Instead of searching for God externally, she inspired people to look within themselves.
She did not follow the rituals performed in the name of religion and gave importance to devotion and love for God above all. In one of her Vakhs, she says :
I have learned only one lesson from my Guru,
to look inward.
The path to self-realization...
She conveyed deep messages about God and truth in simple language through her poems to ordinary people. Her poems reveal that the path to reaching God is difficult, but by overcoming these challenges, one can attain God.
