Vaakdevi
This story teaches us that true knowledge brings the realization that we are one with God.
Story
This is a story from ancient times about a sage named Ambhrina who had a very knowledgeable daughter named Vaakdevi. She is also known as Vaagambhrini.
She composed hymns in praise of the goddess, which are called Devi Sukta or Vaak Sukta. These hymns are included in the oldest scriptures of Hinduism, the Rigveda.
Through rigorous practice and meditation, Vaakdevi attained the knowledge that led her to realize the oneness between herself and God.
After attaining this knowledge, she sang the Devi Sukta, in which she felt herself united with the goddess. It seems from this hymn that the singer (Rishi Vaakdevi) and the one being praised in the hymn (Devi Maa) are not two but one. Even today, in many temples, the Devi Sukta is sung during the Goddess's worship.
The devotion, meditation, and practice of Vakdevi made her a unique scholar. Her writings and teachings continue to guide many people today.
Her devotion and hard work teach us that true knowledge lies within us, and we should look deep into our hearts to discover it.
