The Guru's Guidance

Story

Swami Vivekananda was a great philosopher of our country. Since childhood, he had a keen interest in the knowledge of the Gita, Vedas, and Upanishads.

He spread the knowledge of Hindu philosophy throughout the country and even abroad. He always had many questions about truth and God in his mind. Although he had heard many things about God and truth, he did not believe in anything without proof.

One day, Swami Vivekananda went to his guru, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa, and told him that he wanted to feel the truth. His guru said, "Reaching the truth is not so easy, you have to move forward on this path with patience."

He advised Vivekananda to meditate on God. Accepting his guru's advice, Vivekananda started practising meditation. He meditated continuously for many days.

One day, while meditating on God, Vivekananda suddenly shouted, "Where is my body!" He couldn't feel his body and saw himself separate from it. He felt himself like a soul. His guru said, "I have given you what you needed."

After this incident, Vivekananda understood that the truth is that we are more than this body, we are souls. We are not separate from God but are a form of Him.

Vivekananda tried to convey this truth to everyone. He explained to us that humans are a reflection of God. If we search with all our hearts, we will find that we are also great and infinite just like God.

From this incident in Vivekananda's life, we learn that only with the help of a true guru can we reach the truth or God.

The soul is never born and never dies. It doesn't come into existence or stop existing. It is always there, never changes, and has always been there. It cannot be destroyed, even when the body is destroyed.
