Maa MahaGauri Mantra
ॐ ऐं ह्रीं क्लीं महागौर्ये नम:
Om Aim Hreem Kleem Mahagaurye Namah
Girish was an anxious child. He would always worry about little things. If he could not find his pencil box, he would get worried; if he had to perform in his school program, he would get worried; if his school bus was late, he would get worried; if his nails were not trimmed, he would get worried and so on. His friends called him "anxious Girish".
His parents often told him to relax and stay calm, but Girish could not stay calm even if he wanted to. Girish often got nervous and stressed over little things. His parents were worried because he couldn’t stay calm or peaceful. This made him feel sick, and he would either get a fever, have a stomach ache, or some other problem. Even though his medical tests showed he was healthy, he was still very stressed mentally.
After knowing about Girish’s condition his grandmother came to meet him. On seeing his grandmother, Girish was pleased and excited. Every night, when Girish went to bed, his grandmother would chant the Devi MahaGauri mantra and ask him to worship the Devi sincerely.
Girish asked his grandmother, “Grandma who is Devi MahaGauri? Why do you chant her mantra? What will happen if I pray to her?
His grandmother replied, “Devi Gauri is a form of Maa Durga worshipped on the eighth day of the Navratri. She is a Devi who grants peace, calmness, and confidence.”
Girish asked, “Daadi can you tell me more about her.”
She said, “Yes! Of course!
When Devi Parvati wanted to marry Bhagwan Shiva, she went on strict discipline and control for many years. Pleased with her devotion, Bhagwan Shiva agreed to marry her. Due to the strict control and devotion, her body faded and dried up. When the Devi bathed in the river Ganga, her beautiful complexion was restored. This form of Maa Parvati also known as Maa Durga is Maa MahaGauri.”
“Dear Girish beta, when you pray to Devi MahaGauri she grants you with peace. You will become calm and composed and will overcome your anxiety. Even in distress, you will see that you are composed.”
Since that day, Girish worshipped Devi MahaGauri and slowly he became more peaceful and composed. He would not stress and become anxious about small things. His parents and teachers were happy and told him to continue chanting his magic mantra.
