Hindu Religion offers an excellent collection of books, enriched with the knowledge of God and truth -- Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, the Epics (Ramayana and Mahabharata), Purana etc.
These books don’t just give answers—they inspire us to live meaningful and joyful lives. Written by wise sages, they are full of stories, songs, and lessons that teach us how to connect with God, respect nature, and make the world a better place.
The ancient Vedic rishis were great thinkers and philosophers who discovered the truth about God and nature through their keen observation and logical thinking. With their sincere efforts and deep reflection, they shared this wisdom in a way that people can understand and benefit from even today.
Hindu religious books are a collection of timeless wisdom that guide us on:
true nature of God and existence,
living a meaningful and purposeful life,
forming a connection with God and self,
being peaceful and joyful in every situation.
These books are like treasure chests of knowledge, full of stories, songs, and lessons that teach us right from wrong. They also show us how to love nature, respect everyone, and stay strong even in tough times.
We can divide these books into six main types. Each type is special and teaches us something different. Some books have prayers to God, while others tell stories of brave heroes and gods. Some teach us about the universe, the reality of existence and understanding about one's true selves.
Vedas The Vedas are a collection of Hindu religious books from ancient India. They are written in a special language called Vedic Sanskrit and are the oldest sacred texts in Hinduism. The word "Veda" means "knowledge" because these books are full of wisdom. These books provide a path of self-discovery by first imparting knowledge about the outer world (nature) and then gradually revealing the truth of the inner world (self).
There are many Vedas are divided into four parts, and each has its unique teachings:
Rigveda: The oldest Veda, filled with songs praising different gods, like Agni (fire) and Indra (rain).
Yajurveda: A book with instructions and prose mantras for performing rituals.
Samaveda: A book of songs and chants, mostly taken from the Rigveda, sung during special ceremonies.
Atharvaveda: Contains songs, spells, and magical formulas for everyday life and healing.
Upanishads The Upanishads are ancient Indian texts that explore deep spiritual and philosophical ideas. They are part of the Vedas and focus on understanding the nature of God, the self, and the universe. The Upanishads teach that the true essence of each person is the same as God, encouraging a journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth.
Some of the important Upanishads are: 1. Katha Upanishad 2. Mundaka Upanishad 3. Chandogya Upanishad
4. Brihadaranyaka Upanishad

Epics are long, narrative poems or stories that tell the adventures of heroes, their struggles, and their triumphs. They are often set in ancient times and focus on themes like courage, loyalty, love, and the fight between good and evil. Epics are not just entertaining; they also teach important lessons and reflect the culture, values, and beliefs of the society they come from.
Ramayana: Ramayana showcases the journey of Bhagwan Ram, focusing on his exile and rescue of his wife Sita from the demon King Ravana. This epic highlights the qualities of Bhagwan Ram, like courage, determination, kindness and always standing by righteousness. Bhagwan Ram is an idol for Adults and children.
Mahabharata: Mahabharata is the story of two groups of brothers, the Pandavas and the Kauravas who fought the battle of Mahabharata at Kurukshetra. The Pandavas under the guidance of Shri Krishna fulfilled their duty by standing up for righteousness and truth.
3. Bhagavad Gita
Bhagavad Gita is the book that records the teachings of Shri Krishna imparted to Arjuna (one of the Pandavas) during the Mahabharata war. Shri Krishna taught Arjuna about the importance of duty, selfless action, wisdom and devotion for living a meaningful and truthful life. This book comprises 18 chapters and around 700 Verses. Each verse holds deep meaning and lesson. 4. Puranas
The Puranas are ancient Indian texts that contain stories of gods, goddesses, kings, sages, and the creation and destruction of the universe. They are an important part of Hindu literature and are written in Sanskrit. The Puranas aim to teach moral values, spiritual wisdom, and cultural traditions through engaging stories and teachings.
