As we have gathered here today filled with love and devotion for our dear Prabhu Shri Ram. On this auspicious occasion of Dussehra, also known as Vijaydashami, I am delighted to express my thoughts in the glory of Prabhu Shri Ram.
As you all know Dussehra marks the dignified victory of Bhagwan Rama over the demon king Ravana in a fierce battle and embarks on the victory of good over evil. It is celebrated every year on the tenth day of the month of Ashvin or Kartik (usually falls between September and October). It is a reminder that goodness and righteousness always shine through the dark clouds of evil.
Let's immerse ourselves in the soul-purifying story of Prabhu Shri Ram as narrated by our legends, Maharishi Valmiki and Saint Tulasidas.
Bhagwan Rama was born in Ayodhya and right from his childhood was courageous, loyal, devoted and was an epitome of values and principles. When Shri Ram reached adulthood, he set out for the forest to fulfil his father's promise. Shri Ram gracefully accepted the exile, leaving behind the royal life of the palace, and went to the forest with his beloved younger brother Lakshman and his wife, Devi Sita. Shri Ram kept duty above all the material pleasures and taught everyone to follow this path.
They were leading a life full of hardship and challenges in the forests of Panchvati when one day in the absence of Shri Ram and Laxman. Ravana, the demon king forcefully took Mata Sita to his city Lanka as he wanted to marry her.
Prabhu Shri Ram was determined to bring his wife Sita back and to punish Ravana for his bad deed. With the help of Hanumanji, Sugreeva and the monkey army, Prabhu Shri Ram defeated Ravana in a fierce battle and freed Sita Mata from his captivity. Prabhu Shri Ram, Lakshman, and Mata Sita returned to Ayodhya with the radiance of pride and truth on their faces.

This is why, we celebrate Dussehra when Prabhu Ram defeated Ravana, signifying the victory of righteousness over wrongdoing, and the supremacy of truth over falsehood.
In addition to the religious importance of Dussehra, it is also a time for cultural and social gatherings. Ramlila, a theatrical performance of Bhagwan Rama's life, is also played during Dussehra, which is a ten-day festival. Big fairs are held at various places where people enjoy folk dances, music, various swings and other cultural programs. They also enjoy delicious food and sweets. Parents buy toys and sweets for their children.
The effigies of Ravana, Meghnath (Ravana’s son), and Kumbhakarna (Ravana’s brother) are burned on the tenth day to symbolize the destruction of evil and the establishment of goodness. This ritual reminds us that no matter how powerful evil forcesmay seem, they can be conquered with truth, morality, and perseverance.
On this auspicious day, I wish you all joy, prosperity, and the strength to overcome your challenges. May the spirit of Dussehra bring light into your lives and lead you on the path of righteousness.
With all the fun and enjoyment this festival Dussehra, teaches us to develop in ourselves the qualities of Prabhu Shri Ram, like selflessly doing one's duty and standing for truth with courage and determination. This Dusshera let's pledge to live by the teaching of Prabhu Shri Ram.
