ॐ श्री कालिकायै नमः
Om Sri Kalikayai Namah
I offer my salutations to the most respected Maa Kali
Warm greetings to everyone!
Today, I would like to share my thoughts on Kali Puja, one of the most important festivals celebrated in many parts of India, especially in West Bengal, Odisha, and Assam. Kali Puja is dedicated to Kali Maa, one of the most powerful forms of Maa Durga. She is a symbol of strength, courage, and destruction of evil. Kali Puja reminds us that even in the darkest of times, with courage and faith, we can triumph over any obstacle.
Kali Puja is celebrated on the new moon day of the Hindu month of Kartik, which usually falls during Diwali.
Kali Maa is often depicted as a fierce Devi, wearing a garland of skulls and holding weapons in her hands. She protects her devotees and blesses them with power and wisdom. The name "Kali" comes from the word "Kal," meaning time, representing that Maa Kali has been a great force since the beginning of time.
Let me tell you a captivating story behind celebrating Kali Puja
Kali Puja is celebrated to honour Devi Kali's victory over evil. Once there was a demon, Raktabeej who had become very powerful. He was destroying the peace and harmony of the Devlok and also troubling the people living on the Earth. He had a special power, if a drop of his blood fell on the ground a new Raktabeej emerged.
A fierce battle took place between Maa Kali and Raktabeej. With each drop of his blood, Raktabeej created more and more demons. But Maa Kali, filled with divine anger, used her great power to make sure not a single drop of blood fell to the ground, stopping the demon from multiplying. Thus Maa Kali protected everyone from this cruel demon just like a mother protects her children from all kinds of danger.
People worship Goddess Kali to get courage, protection, and wisdom which help them overcome challenges in life.
During Kali Puja, people set up beautifully decorated idols of Maa Kali in Pandals. Special rituals and prayers are performed, where devotees offer hibiscus flowers, lentils, rice, and sweets to Maa Kali. The night of Kali Puja is very special. Homes and temples are bright with diyas and candles, and people celebrate with fireworks. The air is filled with a sense of devotion and love for Maa Kali.
Kali Puja teaches us to face our fears with courage and to fight against the negative things in our lives. This festival encourages us to be strong, determined, and kind, just like Maa Kali, who protects the good and defeats the bad.
May Maa Kali bless us with the wisdom to build a better world where good always triumphs over evil, people help each other, and fear and darkness are replaced with light, peace, and happiness.
Thank you, and I wish everyone a very happy Kali Puja!
